The History of Sideline Swing

Waaaaaay back when

Sideline Swing started way back in 1994, as The Sideline Swing Orchestra. The band got its name from playing its first gig on the sidelines of a rugby match.

The roots of Sideline Swing can be traced back even further than 1994, as it was born out of the ashes of the “Down Under Rooftop Orchestra.” When that band began to close up shop, K K “Butch” Green took what was left, gathered some old and new members, and changed the name.

Three decades later, Sideline Swing is still going strong, and still under Butch’s musical direction.
